AZ ENSEMBLES

Every year, the Alpha Zeta chapter hosts four musical performances. Each semester, we host both a formal and informal recital. Our informal recitals include pieces that our members would not be able to perform in a recital. They usually include more contemporary, and popular music. Our formal recitals include pieces from our members' repertoire that they may have done or are currently working on in their lessons. They also include choral selections chosen by our chorister. Our Winter and Spring concerts are directed by our chapter chorister(s) and all members contribute their various musical talents to help make each concert more exciting than the last!  In addition to our chapter chorister, we have organized a special performance committee whose main job is to assist the chorister(s) in coordinating each performance.

As our chapter grows we look forward to adding new ensembles each semester! Currently, the primary ensemble for our chapter is the AZ Choir, consisting of all members singing together in harmony! However, thanks to the varied talents of all of our members we are always able to provide a diverse program for each of our recitals! This often includes instrumental ensembles, solos, duets, and smaller group pieces; all of which are chosen, rehearsed, staged, and performed by the members themselves! Each member is given an opportunity to learn more about directing rehearsals, performance logistics, conducting different types of ensembles, and performing with different instruments.  Most recently, we have added an AZ instrumental group that showcases all members on their primary instruments!

We have recently begun to sing at the Commonwealth Senior Living center here in Radford at least once a semester, and making it a goal to do at least two concerts outside of our formal and informal recitals.  We have been making an effort to properly pursue "service through music" and benefit the surrounding community.
